This Flora Jacket is made from a midweight, densely batted quilt that is hand-pieced and quilted in the ever classic Lone Star pattern, featuring my favorite quilting pattern by the name Baptist Fan. The edges are bound in a beautiful cornflower blue and white mid-century reproduction floral fabric. This quilt came to me severely discolored - I soaked this a number of times, then dried in the sun, and couldn't believe the transformation; it went from a rusty orange tone with prominent discolored areas, to the sweetest sunshine yellow! I can wholeheartedly say that these kinds of results are truly a labor of love, and worth all the time and effort to restore these textiles to their original glory. There is even fading throughout as well as some worn diamond blocks as well as wear to the yellow main fabric. Some larger areas have been patched over, as well as many of the white/cream diamond blocks in the star, and structurally intact fabrics from the quilt were used to make these repairs. All this being said, I would still recommend wearing this piece gently; it is a stunning piece of history that has been around for a great number of years, and deserves to live on for years to come in coat form.
This style jacket features a scooped side hem, bound edges, plackets and inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.
