This vest is made from an absolutely beautiful late 19th to early 20th century crib quilt with an absolute treasure trove of fabrics that immediately transport you to that time period, and the beautiful fabrics and quilting that was happening. This piece was stored away for many, many years unused, before I found it at an in-person auction, and then it hung in my home for a number of years. I am so thrilled with how it came out as a vest, and hope that it will be gently worn and loved for another century to come. It is a very lightweight quilt, with the batting layer being one thin layer of flannel. The backing is a stunning cream background with a green and brown florals and leaves pattern.
As this is an antique quilt, it is possible it shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history.
Measurements (taken flat across) - it is best to compare measurements to a coat/vest you already own - sizing is flexible due to the open nature of this style:
Chest (armpit to armpit): 20.5" (flexible given the open nature of this piece)
Length (top of the shoulder to bottom hem): 21”
Outer shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 15"
