This Flora Jacket is made from a lightweight quilt that is hand-pieced and quilted in a 'Rising Sun' pattern. The quilting is comprised of tiny stitches that are finely executed in a stunning pattern itself that should most certainly not be overlooked! The edges are bound in a 100% cotton summery blue fabric with white stripes and dots that truly bring this coat to life, and the inner collar is lined in lightweight french terry for a cozy feel. This actually came to us as only a portion of what would have been a much larger quilt - it was cut in half, along with another of the rising sun pattern blocks having been removed from the remaining portion of quilt. Additionally, it arrived with some moderate staining/age discoloration throughout - I gently soaked this several of times, dried in the sun, and was rewarded with a beautifully restored quilt! There is even fading throughout, resulting in a lovely sunshine yellow.
This style jacket features a straight side hem, bound edges, front plackets and a lined inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.
