This dress features a unfinished quilt TOP that was hand-pieced with lots of beautiful fall inspired fabrics in a traditional Lone Star Pattern, amid a rich navy background, with a diamond border featuring the same fabrics used within the pieced star. It is 100% cotton and has been left unlined to keep it breezy and warmer weather appropriate. It features a sleeveless bodice that hits at mid-waist, with a scoop neck on one side, and a slightly deeper scoop neck on the other side (which can be worn both ways), along with a gathered skirt, and complete inseam side pockets, because - always!
This quilt top was found locally right here in Vermont - a local woman's mother passed, leaving her with 150+ unfinished quilt tops! Overwhelmed by the sheer quantity and not being a quilter herself, she brought them to the local quilt shop - which just so happens to be below my studio! I was fortunate enough to look through some of the quilt tops, and selected a few to transform into something new. I love this piece so much (in addition to the tank that was available last drop and sold quickly!); I hope she would be proud to see her beautiful work worn and loved in this form, and hope that you do too.
As this is made from a vintage/antique quilt top that has lived a full life before becoming a piece of wearable art, it is possible it shows its age in the form of some discolorations and wear to some of the fabrics. These areas are viewed not as defects, but merely giving it character and a nod to it's past life. Please review the photos as returns are not accepted.
