This Flora Jacket features a lightweight quilt dating back to the early 1900s (by my best guesstimate) in one of my very favorite patterns - Pine Burr, but with a fun center Nine Patch variation I have never come across before! It is both hand-pieced and densely quilted, with lots of squish factor and a perfect drape to it. The front placket and inner collar feature a vintage cotton fabric with light gray circles set atop a navy background with cornflower blue dots throughout. The outer edges, sleeve openings, and rounded pocket edges are bound in a rich burgundy linen blend fabric.
This style jacket features a scooped side hem, bound edges, plackets and inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
This piece shows its age in the form of gentle fading throughout, with some wear, particularly in the black fabric in areas, and a few mends made prior to being found by us - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving the garment character and showing its history.
