This Flora Jacket is made from a vintage Orr Health woven wool blanket in a floral design - the blanket itself arrived having been felted, likely from a trip in a dryer - as such, it is on the thicker side, and very cozy! The inner collar is a warm, rust brown with ditsy dot pattern 100% cotton fabric to serve as a barrier from the wool around the neck area, with the pockets and outer edge bound in the same fabric. The front plackets have been constructed from two gorgeous plaid cotton fabrics salvaged from the border edge of another quilt top - we were saving the last bits for the perfect coat, and this is definitely it!
This style jacket features a straight side hem, bound edges, plackets and inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. This blanket has a nubby texture throughout, but I do not think it detracts from the beauty, and this blanket in particular is not itchy at all. For reference, I am 5'7" and my body measurements are: 34.5" bust, 27.5" waist, 37.5" hips.
