This Flora Jacket is made from a vintage Orr Health woven wool blanket in a unique art deco inspired design. The inner collar, pockets, sleeve openings, and outer edge are bound in a rich navy hued cotton/linen blend. The front plackets are constructed from a sweet floral fabric that was salvaged from antique quilt remnants we had on hand - the fabric was used as the quilt's backing, but clearly deserves to be appreciated in its own right!
This style jacket features a scooped side hem, bound edges, plackets and inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. This blanket has a nubby texture throughout, but I do not think it detracts from the beauty, and this blanket in particular is not itchy at all.
