This Flora Jacket features a vintage Orr Health 100% Wool blanket in a beautiful dusty blue with a cream tulip design throughout. The edges are bound in rich burgundy/wine toned linen/cotton blend fabric, along with the inner collar and inner packets. The sleeve openings include the original blanket stitch edge that was in beautiful condition, which is quite a rare find on these vintage blankets!
This style jacket features a scooped side hem, bound edges, plackets and inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. One thing of note is that this blanket must have traveled through a home with either a black dog or horse in its lifetime - I have washed it thoroughly, and tried to remove as much hair as possible, however some continues to work its way out of the fibers, so something to keep in mind if this is of concern or a bother to you and can be seen in a couple of the images of the inside of the jacket.
