The Mayflower Chore Coat features a medium weight, densely batted 100% cotton quilt that is both hand-pieced and hand quilted. It features a beautiful example of fugitive dye - the once green fabric has faded to tans and browns in contrast to the red and black fabrics. I salvaged the very best parts of this extremely well-loved quilt, and am thrilled to give it a new life. I originally intended this coat to be for myself, but decided to offer it up in case any of you value the well-loved quilts and history of them as much as I do! The Chore Coat features a straight, boxy silhouette, inseam side pockets, and antique brass snaps.
As this is a vintage quilt, it is possible it shows it age in the form of wear and/or discolorations - this quilt in particular has some age discoloration evenly throughout. In addition, there is fabric degradation, particularly to the black fabric used and batting is exposed, but not falling out. There is also exposed batting around the top snap - I would recommend treating it kindly. These are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing it's history. I have done my best to capture these areas in the photos, but is possible that not all are photographed. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.
Measurements (taken flat across) - due to the slightly oversized fit, this can accommodate a range of sizes - it is best to measure a coat you already own:
Chest (armpit to armpit): 22.5"
Length (top of the shoulder to bottom hem): 28.5"
Sleeve (armpit to sleeve opening): 19"
Arm length (against the collar to sleeve opening): 28"
