This Flora Jacket is made from a lightweight quilt that is hand pieced and quilted in a Log Cabin pattern - it features a range of fabrics, including many feedsacks. The edges are bound in a vintage woven purple, white, and orange plaid, with the hood lining utilizing fabric salvaged from a men’s blue Oxford shirt, and front plackets in a dusty blue dot print cotton. This quilt in particular has fading, discolored areas, and wear throughout. We made mends in areas, but left others as-is so as not to take away or act as distractions from the original quilt. If you appreciate a soft and worn quilt to be wrapped up in and love that history, this one is for you (and my favorite kind, personally!)
This style jacket features a scooped side hem, bound edges, plackets and self-drafted hood, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and cozy front pockets - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.
