This dress features a unfinished quilt TOP that was hand-pieced with lots of beautiful old shirting fabrics - there are lots of great ginghams, stripes, and textures (it does not have batting or backing) in a classic Shoofly pattern. It is 100% cotton and has been left unlined to keep it breezy and warmer weather appropriate. It features a sleeveless bodice that hits at mid-waist (scoop neck on one side, and a modest v-neck on the other, which can be worn both ways), with a gathered skirt, and complete inseam side pockets, because - always! The bottom hem has been left as is, due to the fact that the border of the quilt utilized the selvedge of the solid blue fabric, and lends unique character, and will not fray.
As this is made from a vintage/antique quilt top that has lived a full life before becoming a piece of wearable art, it is possible it show it's age in the form of some discolorations and wear to some of the fabrics. These areas are viewed not as defects, but merely giving it character and a nod to it's past life. Please review the photos as returns are not accepted.
