This Flora Jacket is made from a lightweight quilt that both hand-pieced and hand-tied in a log cabin pattern. The quilt used for this piece dates back to the late 1800s, with a stunning representation of fabrics from that time. The batting layer is a thin flannel, with the backing a black background with petite florals (quite faded in areas, but structurally intact!). The quilt layers were secured together with a burnt red cotton yarn, lovingly hand-tied throughout. The edges are bound in a charcoal linen, with the inner collar made from the same, and the front plackets constructed from a cream and deep blue petite floral cotton fabric remnant that aligns with the colors and patterns of the time period.
This style jacket features a scooped side hem, bound edges, plackets and inner collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and a stand up collar - a truly amazing fit!
It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. I have done my best to capture these areas in the photos, but is possible that not all are photographed. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.
For reference, I am 5'7" and my body measurements are: 35" bust, 27" waist, 37.5" hips.
