I absolutely love an opportunity to create a colorblock jacket, however it takes not only a combination of the right colors, but textiles that have a similar weight and density that work well together for both comfort, and to create a flattering fit, and garment that can stand the test of time. All of these factors lined up perfectly, and this piece features three separate blankets from Ukraine: the rust blanket used from the front and back body panels, the green blanket used for the sleeves, and the burgundy/deep fuchsia blanket used for the pockets. The blue collar was constructed from a vintage Golden Dawn blanket, and finally, the pocket flaps were made from the very last bit of an Orr Health wool blanket. The Field Jacket style features a slight drop shoulder and tapered sleeve, with a straight silhouette, complete with lined front flap patch pockets and antique brass snaps. The inner facings, back of the neck, and under-collar feature vintage woven wool coating fabric that just so happens to incorporate many of the colors of the coat pieces, and pockets are lined in a tencel fabric in a deep plum, purchased locally at a woman-owned fabric shop.
As this is a vintage blanket, it is possible it shows it age in the form of wear and/or discolorations. Any areas such as these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing it's history. I have done my best to capture these areas in the photos, but is possible that not all are photographed. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.
For reference, I am 5'7" and my body measurements are: 34.5" bust, 27.5" waist, 37.5" hips.
Measurements (taken flat across) - this can accommodate a range of sizes depending on the fit you are looking for - it is best to measure a coat you already own:
Chest (armpit to armpit): 21.5"
Length (top of the shoulder to bottom hem): 21.5"
Shoulder to shoulder: 18"
Sleeve (armpit to sleeve opening): 17.5"
Arm length (against the collar to sleeve opening): 28"
