This Flora Jacket is made from an absolutely beautiful late 19th to early 20th century crib quilt with an absolute treasure trove of fabrics that immediately transport you to that time period, and the beautiful fabrics and quilting that was happening. This piece was stored away for many, many years unused, before I found it at an in-person auction, and then it hung in my home for a number of years. I am so thrilled with how it came out as a jacket, and hope that it will be gently worn and loved for another century to come.  It is a very lightweight quilt, with the batting layer being one thin layer of flannel. The backing is a stunning cream background with a green and brown florals and leaves pattern. The bottom edge of the jacket and the sleeves feature the original quilt's border fabric, with the sleeves highlighting the quilts original bound edge. The edges are bound and inner collar is lined in rich indigo dot fabric, to honor the timer period and aesthetic of the quilt. The front plackets are constructed from a pale blue and white dot patterned cotton.

While it was not finished in time for the release of this collection, there is also a vest from this quilt in the midst of construction, and will be available soon.

This style jacket features a rounded side hem, bound edges, plackets and rounded-edge stand up collar, antique brass snaps and oversized handwarmer style pockets. This is the Flora Jacket pattern by Brightside Pattern Company that I pattern tested for them, and they were kind enough to grant me permission to make finished coats available to you! The fit is oversized through the body with slimmer arms, and roomy pockets - a truly amazing fit!

It is possible this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.

A mega thank you to Abby (of Abby Huston Designs!) for modeling this collection! She is 5'7" tall and her current measurements are 35" bust, 29" waist, 39" hips.
