This vest is made from a lightweight quilt that is hand pieced and quilted in a Rocky Road to Kansas pattern, with the background fabric featuring an indigo dot cotton, with lots of great plaids, ginghams, and shirting fabrics. The quilt backing was a lovely navy and tan homespun fabric, but due to wear and damage, we lined the inside of this vest with a deep blue fantic on the back and Toad&Co lightweight plaid flannel on the inner front. The edges are bound in a sage green and petite leaf print cotton fabric. This quilt is well over 100 years old, and shows evidence of a life well loved through fabric wear throughout, as well as some age discoloration and hand mends. We invested many hours into bringing this quilt back to life - if you love a quilt with lots of character and are looking for a stunning coat to wear gently for seasons to come, you’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful vest! If you prefer something ready for harder wear and prefer something more prestige, I would advise against adding this piece into your wardrobe.
As stated above and evident in images, this piece shows its age in places in the form of worn, slightly discolored areas, and/or mends - these are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing its history.
Measurements (taken flat across) - it is best to compare measurements to a coat/vest you already own - sizing is flexible due to the open nature of this style:
Chest (armpit to armpit): 20" (flexible given the open nature of this piece)
Length (top of the shoulder to bottom hem): 19.5”
