The Rocky Road to Kansas Chore Coat features a medium weight, densely batted 100% cotton quilt that is hand-pieced and machine quilted. It features a calico background that is perfectly faded, and provides a stunning background for the 'Rocky Road to Kansas' string stars. There are a vast number of calico and shirting fabrics, and some areas where the top layer has worn through, and intact fabric hidden beneath the string star blocks are visible. I salvaged the very best parts of this well-loved quilt, and am thrilled to give it a new life. I was able to create two coats from the same quilt, one I am keeping for myself, and one for you! This modified Chore Coat features a slightly less exaggerated drop shoulder, slimmer arms, and a less boxy silhouette (depending on how you would like it to fit). This piece also includes inseam side pockets, and antique brass snaps.

As this is a vintage quilt, it is possible it shows it age in the form of wear and/or discolorations - this quilt in particular has fading throughout. In addition, there is fabric degradation, in areas exposing the fabric the blocks were pieced over, but no exposed batting. These are not viewed as flaws, but rather giving it character and showing it's history. I have done my best to capture these areas in the photos, but is possible that not all are photographed. Please review all images as returns are not accepted - no exceptions.

Measurements (taken flat across) -  this can accommodate a range of sizes depending on the fit you are looking for - it is best to measure a coat you already own:

Chest (armpit to armpit): 20.5"

Length (top of the shoulder to bottom hem): 26.5"

Sleeve (armpit to sleeve opening): 19"

Arm length (against the collar to sleeve opening): 28.5"

Bicep: 6.75" flat across
