This breezy elastic waist skirt features an unfinished quilt TOP that was machine-pieced with myriad blue and white floral 100% cotton fabrics in a Silent Star pattern. It has been left unlined to keep it breezy and warmer weather appropriate. This quilt top came to me locally, from a woman who spent her lifetime here in Vermont piecing quilt tops, and upon passing they were left to her daughter who is not a quilter herself, but knew her mother would love to see her quilt tops finished or turned into something new. I feel so fortunate for the opportunity to reimagine her life's work, and turn it into wearable pieces that can be loved and worn for many years to come.
This breezy elastic waist skirt features an unfinished quilt TOP that was hand-pieced with an array of batik fabrics, saturated reds, and what looks to be tea or coffee dyed cotton. The skirt has inseam side pockets, and has been left unlined (please note that the original stitching can be seen on the inside) and find it to be more appropriate for warm weather wear. This listing is for the SKIRT ONLY, the matching tanks are available in separate listings.
As this is made from an antique quilt top that has lived a full life before becoming a piece of wearable art, it is possible it shows its age in the form of minor discolorations and wear to some of the fabrics. These areas are viewed not as defects, but merely giving it character and a nod to its past life. Please review the photos as returns are not accepted.
